Bridport Carnival Week and Half Price Holidays
It’s been a busy couple of weeks at the Holiday Parks and in the Bridport area. The local fundraising committee at Seatown held their annual RNLI fun day which is located next to Golden Cap Holiday Park on the 7th August. I have since read in the Bridport News that over 1,500 people attended and that over £6,000 was raised which is excellent. Once again we were pleased to help the event by providing transport for the stalls and general help with setting up and then packing away.
Saturday 17th August was Bridport Carnival which was a great evening, I always enjoy watching the passing floats and guessing what themes the local businesses have gone for when designing their spectacular carnival floats. Robert was in the carnival this year supporting the local Young Farmers and pulling a tractor with their hands… not by himself! But along with other members of the Young Farmers Group. After the carnival had passed through Bridport I met up with my Rotary colleagues and helped on the burger and hot dog stand. We were open on Bucky Doo Square until 11pm and sold a lot of burgers and hot dogs!
Torchlight on Sunday 18th August is always a stunning evening, if you choose to take part in the walk or sit on top of the Jurassic cliff tops and watch the burning procession highlight the streets. The walk with the burning torches begins at Bucky Doo Square in Bridport town centre and winds through the streets to West Bay, where the torches are then tossed into a bonfire. According to the Bridport Carnival website over 10,000 people attended the evening. After the walkers had thrown the torches into the bonfire a party began with live music and a fireworks display.
Melplash show is coming up on Thursday 22nd August, this is located in the fields as you enter into West Bay. James and Sarah who work in our office will be assisting the Bridport District Tourism Association, working on their stand and hopefully enticing local business to join the association and promote Bridport Tourism. We will also be advertising West Dorset Leisure Holidays from the Southern Counties Leisure stand, which will be manned by our good friends and colleagues from Southern Counties. If you are interested in buying a caravan I would recommend going to have a chat with them.
Finally that time of year has come when our customers can book their Half Price Holidays; all they need to have done was already visited Highlands End Holiday Park or Golden Cap Holiday Park earlier in this year and have stayed at least 7 nights in one of the options of hire accommodation. From the middle of September until October or December depending on the hire accommodation chosen, the repeat customers are then entitled to a half price holiday, for the equivalent standard of accommodation that they stayed in previously. If you think you are entitled please give our friendly bookings team a call and they will be happy to help.
