A new environmental milestone!
At Highlands End we continue to strive to be as green as possible and this includes:
Creating natural havens for wildlife
Extensive tree and hedgerow planting
Install homemade bird and owl boxes
4 separate buildings with Solar Panels
2 buildings with Waterless Urinals
Harvest rainwater to water our plants
Use local suppliers to reduce travel
Promote public transport
A polytunnel to grow all our own plants during the low season
A milestone has been met during April 2016
Our 96 panel Solar Photovoltaic system was installed on the Leisure Club roof in October 2011 and has just reached over 100,000 kilowatt hours saved in less than 5 years and a saving to the environment of over 50,000 kilograms of CO2! We’re proud of the team’s effort in ‘going green’ and is another achievement that contributes towards all 5 of our Parks hopefully achieving David Bellamy Conservation Gold Awards once again in 2016!
