We attended the Melplash Show yesterday – our annual agricultural show. The show is alwasy an important and popular event in our local diary and for local people it is one of those occasion when you spend most of day catching up with old friends and having one or two drinks….
In the morning I helped Vanessa to judge the trade stands – we had never had such a responsibility before – and it was not easy……………..
The winner of the small stand category was this young man selling small wild stoves which are very eco-efficient and, as you can image, we were initially attracted to the stand by the 1952 touring caravan – a very clever way to make the stand look different.
It was great to see a young business based in the West Country with a comprehensive collection of outdoor wood cooking stoves and a young person passionate about cooking on wood in the great British outdoors.
With heavy rain during the first and last 30 minutes of the show the day turned out to be sunny and warm to enable the thousands of visitors to enjoy a very traditional country event.
