Fancy Hats in Bridport and a 1940’s Holiday
Bridport Hat Festival was over the weekend of the 6th & 7th September and it was a spectacular weekend, people went all out with wonderful creations. It seems each year the hats become more elaborate and I think some people must take weeks creating these imaginative designs. Staff at the holiday parks had noticed before the event that customers were asking about the date of the hat festival, as they had been the year before and didn’t want to miss it this year.
Hull Trade Show was on the 10th – 12th September, it was a very popular show and enabled the caravan manufacturers to display their caravan holiday homes for 2014. There have been a lot of good reports about the design and quality of the caravans this year and we look forward to going to the sister show at Beaulieu on 27th -29th September.
I have had a busy few days with the EFCO Management Meeting in Paris last Friday and the BH &HPA Management Meeting in London on the Tuesday. It has been a succession of very interesting meetings, with many manufacturers starting to take shape and the industry as a whole looking forward to raising standards and customer confidence. On Tuesday evening after dinner in London we walked across Tower Bridge and were reminded of why London is such a popular tourist destination, then traveling across to our hotel in the traffic and noise of the city we thought about the people staying in Dorset listening to the waves breaking on the beach.
Highlands End 1940’s Weekend is coming up on Saturday 28th – Sunday 29th September. This is a new experience for Highlands End of which we are greatly looking forward too. I think it should pull in a lot of local people and be a great attraction for our customers currently staying at the holiday park. More details can be found online and I am sure the 1940’s singer will sing a few classics that will trigger a memory in most minds.
We have begun advertising our Autumn Holidays which are available at very competitive prices. More information can be found on the company website. We hope this will bring in some good business over the following months and be another good excuse for people to have another holiday, even if they weren’t planning it!
And finally, this weekend we will be reviewing our hire caravans to decide how many new ones we need for next year.
