A blog from Highlands End Reception Team
As we enter a very busy peak summer season, we are all hoping the hot sunny weather returns after this weekends stormy weather. We are fortunate this year to welcome our lovely touring wardens Tracey and Drew to our team, who are looking after our customers and ensuring that the touring field is tidy and working well.
In the park shop, we now have a bakery where delicious pastries such as croissants, cinnamon swirls, maple pecans etc and baguettes can be pre-ordered the day before for the following morning. We are also offer hot sausage rolls and hot savoury pastries.
The shop is also now selling various local products such as the delicious Purbeck Ice Cream. There are six mouth-watering flavours to choose from – Serious Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Mint Choc Baby Chip, Clotted Cream, Rum & Raisin and Honeycomb Hash! We have a huge range of other products and gifts made along the Jurassic Coast such as, jams, chutneys, pickles, Lyme Bay Cider & Wine, Palmer’s Ales, Dorset Tea, Moore’s Biscuits and Jurassic Cakes. All these wonderful products are made into hampers ideal for gifts for that special someone.
We look forward to seeing you all very soon!

A blog from Martin’s Bar & Restaurant
Tess Frecknall, the Venue Manager of Martin’s Bar & Restaurant at Highlands End Holiday Park has written this week’s blog!
Wow, well what a journey we’ve been on in Martins Bar over the last 6 months! For those of you who visit us regularly you’ll have seen a lot of new faces as the team grows to keep up with the new all day opening hours, events and the oncoming summer holidays!
Did someone mention football? Well despite our best efforts we can confirm it didn’t come home…. But we had a few great afternoons and evenings cheering on the England team whilst watching the games on our big screen and 6 other large screen TVs around the restaurant and bar! What an atmosphere!!! Bring on Qatar 2022!!!!!
Shadowed a little by the World Cup (and absence of Andy Murray) we quietly showed Wimbledon throughout early July – but the highlight of the tournament was our Clotted Cream Gin Teas!!! Yes, Clotted Cream Gin – our current guest gin – perfect with fresh strawberries and a scone or two – but don’t just take our word for it – we’ll be offering Teas throughout the summer so feel free to pop in any day between 10am and 5pm!
Our Chef team have never been so busy – we’re so pleased to have so many local guests alongside our holiday makers and holiday home owners join us to try our food – we’re getting a great little reputation for offering great meals at reasonable costs. Every night we offer our full Martins Menu, plus we have a themed special menu every evening – anything from a freshly made curry, to local seafood, to hand-stretched pizzas. And for the holidays we’ve just bought ourselves a big BBQ so we can offer a chef hosted BBQ every Sunday evening from 5pm on our stunning patio overlooking West Bay!
Whoosh and there it was – our brilliant Soft Play Area ‘The Little Fire Station’ landed with us for the Easter Holidays and we haven’t stopped since!!! Its been super to have so many new faces visit us – big and small – to enjoy the combination of COSTA coffee and entertainment for our youngest visitors. Open everyday 9am until 5pm and open to visitors and locals alike we would love to see you there!
Open every day from 9am Martins Bar and Restaurant has recently had a bit of a re-shuffle. Now everyday we have our Sports Bar area showing live sports on big screen TVs, our Engine Room featuring Sports TV and Pool Tables, our Soft Play Room, our Bar Areas and of course our lovely Merryweather Restaurant which benefits from those great views, patio and nearby outdoor adventure play area. Our Sports Bar, Engine Room and Patio areas are all dog friendly so no need to leave your buddy back at home – come and enjoy the facilities
Over the summer we have a number of events including live music nights, childrens discos and entertainment and of course our weekly quiz night and game of chance. As I write this our Jackpot is at £500 for our ‘Crack The Code’ game – anyone over 18 playing the quiz has the chance to win the pot – but you gotta be in it to win it!!!! Quiz from 7.30pm every Wednesday!
I couldn’t not mention Christmas could I!!! Party bookings now being taken in earnest for the Festive Period – we have party nights, we have Shelbies Elbows and discos, we have formal dining, we have buffets – you name it we can, and probably are, doing it! For one of the best party venues in the area join us for one of our party nights, with up to 300 guests on a Friday and Saturday night! Book your group in by calling Tess on 01308 426919 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
A blog from Graston Copse Holiday Park
Greetings from Graston Copse Holiday Park!
We are pleased to welcome Gary and Therese to our team at Graston Copse and Larkfield Holiday Parks in Burton Bradstock. Our new colleagues will be able to add their experience for the benefit of our Holiday Home Owners and holidaymakers.
We welcome our new Holiday Home Owners for the 2018 season and believe they will enjoy the benefits of peace and tranquillity of Burton Bradstock. Whilst making new friends with our existing Holiday Home Owners.
As everybody is enjoying the hot and sunny weather so far we look forward to welcoming even more guests at Graston Copse this summer, with their tents, touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans, as well as guests staying in our camping pods, safari tent and stargazer bell tent. We have been busy with our glamping accommodation, but we still have availability for last minute bookings. Information can be found on our website or by telephoning the WDLH Bookings Team on 01308 426947.
We have had our first crop of honey from the Bee Hives at Graston Copse, which goes to help towards us being a honey bee friendly park. We have also had a visit from the David Bellamy Conservation Award assessor. He was happy with the way the park manages its grounds and encourages wildlife in areas we have left nature to take its course. Graston is a great place to enjoy nature, with a beautiful riverside walk, a woodland walk through the copse and a dog exercising area.
Over at Larkfield Holiday Park, which is just 1 mile away and a 5 minute walk from the beach, we are busy working on our new dog exercising area, with the potential to add bee hives here as well. We are continuing to improve our Jurassic Retreat lodge development, with signage for Bredy Pond, the “bug hotels” and the other wildlife areas on the park.
On another positive note we also had the AA quality inspector pay us a visit. He was impressed with the way the park was looking and granted us a 3 Pennant Gold Award for the park. So you will be assured of a warm and friendly welcome from all the staff at West Dorset Leisure Holidays and we look forward to seeing you here at Graston Copse Holiday Park during the 2018 season.
Hana’s written the Blog this week!
This week’s WDLH blog is written by Hana our Bookings Manager.
It has been camper van galore at Highlands End during June! (Not all VW’s I would like to point out)
We’ve been really lucky with this heatwave which has arrived in the UK and been very busy with lots of people enjoying what our parks have to offer and the surrounding areas. Over the next few weeks especially at weekends we have very limited availability across all of our parks. For the most up to date availability please visit www.wdlh.co.uk/book which is available 24/7.
We also hit a milestone during the June heatwave at WDLH with us hitting 52% average online booking, a target we have been chasing for a couple of years so thank you to all of those of you that booked online! If you haven’t yet, give it a try.
Dare I mention it… but as we’re half way through the year I think I can – Christmas. Our lodges, Bungalows and Apartments are filling up for Christmas bookings at Highlands End & Golden Cap so if you fancy spending your Christmas break near the sea why not speak to the team and see what units we have remaining.
Our 2019 booking system for hire accommodation at Highlands End & Golden Cap is open for bookings. Don’t forget if you are booking your next years holiday before the 30th November 2018 you will receive a £25 voucher on your arrival to spend in Martin’s Bar & Restaurant. Also please ask about your 50% holiday later in the year – you are entitled to it after all if you book 7 days or more.
We’re working on our Touring, Camping, Glamping prices and also our Sandyholme hire prices as we type, we should hopefully have these ready by the end of August.
