Gin & Nature at Highlands End
When you next stay at Highlands End Holiday Park you will be in for a few new surprises!
Not only have we continued to review our environmental impact with a 2019 Recycling target of 50%, but we have now produced a free Nature Trail which takes you around the park and the surrounding countryside. There is a main route of 2 miles with options of two detours. The trail starts at the park shop and ends at Martin’s Bar & Restaurant for a much-needed refreshment!
The route takes in some of the best areas of the park, including Mower’s Mead Wildlife Lake, the new “Bee Bank” with wildflowers, and our new “Bug Hotel.” Along the way there are plenty of places to stop, relax and take in the surroundings with one coastal view allowing you on a sunny day to see 99 miles of coastline from Portland Bill in Dorset to Start Point in Devon. There are ‘letters’ to collect along the way, which can be unscrambled at the end to reveal the words and you can enter your answers into a prize draw for the chance to win £250 off a 2020 holiday!
In other exciting news we have produced our very own Gin. Named ‘Barkis,’ after one of the fire engines on display at Martin’s Bar and Restaurant, the Strawberry Pavlova flavoured Gin has been distilled as the house gin for the 2019 season. It is available with Tonic or Lemonade as well as two stunning cocktails Tess and Zoe have tried and tested!
The distilling and bottling of the Gin to our unique recipe created by our good friend Lloyd Brown (Pavlova after our top selling dessert) happened at Bridport Market last Saturday as part of the launch and an opportunity to shout about all the great goings on at Martin’s Bar & Restaurant! With us were Devon-based company who distilled the Gin and brought along ‘Ginny,’ an amazing VW T2 Bay pick-up mobile gin distillery.
The Barkis Gin joins over 20 other Gins available throughout 2019 at Martin’s Bar & Restaurant, which is open daily from 9am. We look forward to welcoming you!
